This unoffical standards guide contains the main requirements of the NZS 5828:2015 plus the appendix A (Early Childhood Education Services) and Appendix B (Overhead Upper Body equipment) for the purposes of supporting safety and compliance, inspection, maintenance, repair of commercial play areas in Early Childhood, School and Council Parks.
The guide consists of infomation as follows:
Two main standards for playground equipment were used for NZS5828:2015 which includes implementation of EN 1176 Parts 1 - 7 and 10 - 11:2008 and EN 1177:2008.
The standard also includes an adoption of BS 7188:1998+A2:2009. NZS 5825:2015 Playground Equipment and Surfacing - Parts 1-11 including Appendix A Early Childhood & Appendix B Upperbody Overheads. (excludes 10: Indoor/ Enclosed Play)

Part 1: General safety requirements and test methods.
Part 2: Specific safety requirements and test methods for swings.
Part 3: Specific safety requirements and test methods for slides.
Part 4: Specific safety requirements and test methods for cableways.
Part 5: Specific safety requirements and test methods for carousels.
Part 6: Specific safety requirements and test methods for rocking equipment.
Part 7:Guidance for installation, inspection, maintenance and operation.
Part 10: Fully Enclosed Play Equipment is outside the scope of this document.
Part 11: Specific safety requirements and test methods for spatial networks.
Appendix A: Early Childhood Education Services / Movable Play Equipment
Appendix B: Overhead Upper body equipment
BS EN 1177:2008 Impact Attenuating Playground Surfacing Determination of Critical Fall Height.
Impact Absorbing Playground Surfaces: Performance Requirements and Test Methods.
EN1177 solely concerns the testing of impact absorbing surfaces.
All other requirements and recommendations have been transferred to NZS 5828:2015.
