​​Playground Inspection, Compliance & Maintenance Training - Certified RPII / RoSPA Operational Level 2

The Playsafe RPII certified operational (Level 2) Playground Inspection Training consists of a 2 day workshop including classroom presentation and physical site visits ending with a practical and formal completion exam.

The course is designed to train you as a competent operational inspector of the play area’s general safety, wear & tear ongoing condition whilst giving you a broad and comprehensive overview and understanding of the entire playground industry including broad compliance requirements of the NZS5828:2015 (No previous training or experience is necessary).

The training consists of a comprehensive overview of the playground industry including general safety, accidents, inspection procedure, basic risk assessment and some basic standards /compliance dimensional compliance to NZS5828:2015 / EN1176:2008.

The exam process provides a qualification and registration for Operational (Level 2) with the RPII & ROPSA Register of Playground Inspectors International. You will receive a certificate and ID badge valid for 3 years. A Playsafe Standards Guide (hardcopy) is also included.

The level 2 training and exam process provides a qualification and registration for RPII Operational (Level 2) with Register of Playground Inspectors International. You will receive a certificate and ID badge valid for 3 years.

Previous Knowledge

No previous training or experience is necessary. Whether you have been in working in the playground industry for many years or new to playgrounds - this training is for you! 

The 2 day workshop is designed to give you bring you up to speed on play safety requirements and teach a formal inspection process of hazard identification.

Training Types and Pricing: 

We have two types of attendance at each of our trainings for both new and renewal attendees. The full two day course is designed for INITIAL attendees not previously trained or undertaken level 2 exams prior. The second day of each course is for 3 Year Renewal attendees wishing to renew their qualification.


  • Initial Training: $1,595+gst - Includes two-day course attendance, training presentation, site visits, formal & practical exams. Includes catering, RPII Exam Fee plus 3 year registration and membership. Also included is a hardcopy of the Playsafe Essential NZS5828:2015 Standards Guide Handbook.

  • 3 Year Renewal: $1,095+gst - Includes formal and practical exam, RPII Exam Fee plus further 3 year registration and membership. Also included is a hardcopy of the Playsafe Essential NZS5828:2015 Standards Guide Handbook.

Times: (approx. finish times only)

Day 1 (8.30am – 5.00pm Classroom Presentation + site visit

Day 2 (8.30am – 4.00pm Classroom Presentation + Written Exam & Practical Exam

What to bring?

A tape measure, pen and rain jacket (wear comfortable clothing, dress smart casual)


Morning tea, lunch and refreshments throughout the training is provided (included). Please let us know if you have any particular dietary requirements on booking.


Accommodation is excluded from the fee, if you are traveling from outside of Auckland we would recommend staying at nearby motels including Parklane Motor Lodge, Cornwall Park Motor Inn. Accommodation areas could include Greenlane, Epsom, Airport or Central City.
